Black is the Chief Executive Officer of CB Urban Development, a development company he founded in 2007 which specializes in mixed-use urban development projects. Mr. Black has been a Gramercy trustee since June 2004 and the Chairman of its Board of Trustees since June 2012. Mr. Black is also an Attorney in private practice who represents developers, land owners and businesses in the development, entitlement, financing and implementation of politically sensitive, public and private real estate projects. Before founding CB Urban Development, Mr. Black was the Regional Senior Vice President (San Diego region) of The Irvine Company. Prior to joining The Irvine Company in March 2006, Mr. Black was the Executive Vice President of JMI Realty. Prior to joining JMI Realty in 2002, Mr. Black was the President and Chief Operating Officer of the San Diego Padres Baseball Club. From 1991 to 2002, Mr. Black was a Partner in the law firm of Gray, Cary, Ware & Freidenrich LLP, where his areas of expertise included real estate acquisition and development, urban planning and development law and development financing. Mr. Black is a Member of the Urban Land Institute (ULI) and the land economics society Lambda Alpha International. Mr. Black received a B.S. from the United States Air Force Academy and a J.D. from the University of California at Davis.
