Ran Rock & Roll Half Marathon on 65th and 70th birthdays

Factoids

Home: La Jolla, CA, a beautiful, but strange, place for a fourth generation Texan.
Age: 70 (and happy to still be on the green side of the grass).
AF Stuff: R&D Procurement with Space & Missile Systems Organization; Advanced Ballistic Reentry Systems; ACM.
Cadet Squadrons: 14, 29 & 18.
My role models included two of my AOC’s (Air Officer Commanding for each cadet squadron) - General James McCarthy (retired but still teaching at USAFA) and Colonel Bobbie Grace (deceased). Both were superb pilots and air warriors, kind human beings, and leaders who took care of their own.

Civilian Stuff: Trial lawyer, now retired.
Running: Since forever.   Freshman Cross Country and Track at USAFA.  Multiple 5K, 10K, half marathon, and marathon races along with several team relays. Love running to this day - such an efficient form of exercise.  Ran the San Diego Rock and Roll Half Marathon on my 65th and 70th birthdays and finished 3rd each time in my age group. Just proves that if you keep running long enough, you can medal. And best of all, now a USAFA Class of 1970 Winded Warrior.
Cancer: Boy has the Big C hit close to home too many times! Mother, father, brother(survivor) and wife (survivor), not to mention friends sadly too numerous to count. Let’s find a way to finish cancer.

A great time with my doolie 14 squadron mates at our 45th reunion. General Jim McCarthy in the middle was our AOC! I'm lurking in the back. [The lingo: "doolie" is from the Greek word for slave and applied to first-year, that is "Fourth Class" cadets. AOC means "Air Officer Commanding" and is the commissioned officer who oversees each squadron (usually an Air Force Captain or Major).

    Winded Warriors

    The "Winded Warriors" Team
is from the United States Air Force Academy, Class of 1970.  We are privileged to link arms with all Classes in the Long Blue Line, and all those who have served in the United States Air Force.

We and loved ones have been touched by cancer.  Many of you and your families have also been touched by cancer.  While we run 199 miles whistling while we work, will you please chip in  and donate for cancer research and patient care.
    Let's make a difference together.

    Thank you!
